Is it safe to use Proactiv and Retin-A at the same time?
Mу fiancee uses thе Proactiv system fοr hеr acne аnd swears bу іt. Shе іѕ now interested іn using Retin-A fοr both іtѕ acne prevention аnd wrinkle prevention effects. Iѕ іt safe tο υѕе both аt thе same time?

It isn’t the best. Your skin gets really sensetive when you retin-A. It actually weakens your skin and makes it thinner. If your girlfriend is still in her 20′s I’d recommend not using the retin-A for wrinkle prevention as it increases the chance of it by (as before mentioned) it weakens your skin and can make wrinkles come earlier than normal. I used to use retin-A for an acne problem and thought that I’d go and try to prevent wrinkles around my eyes, and within weeks, I suddenly had wrinkles there. Tell her, that if the Proactive is working, then to just stick with that and complicate things.
NO that would REALLY dry out her skin. its one or the other. both work very well, if i might add.
I would just like to caution your girlfriend on the long term effects from proactive. I have worked for a Dermatologist for many years and seen damage it can do in the long run and the corrective surgery needed for some to repair the skin. Now Re tin-A is going to only burn her twice as fast and she will age 20-30 yrs faster then on her own. I would really seek out a professional Derm Dr for new meds on the market that are safe and work as well…..There is also a V-Beam laser that works awesome on Acne and scaring and Ins usually will cover it…
She can use both products, but not at the same time of day. If she wanted to use both Proactiv and Retin A, then she should use the Proactiv in the mornings and Retin A at night. You can’t use them together, as they will cancel each other out and irritate the skin.
Hope this helps.
