Eat a healthy diet free of junk foods and low in fat. Take a fish oil supplement as well. Seriously, google “fish oil” and “acne.” It works.
The best way would be to see a dermatologist. Do NOT buy proactive or anything OTC with 10% benzoyl peroxide. They irritate your skin and open it up to more infection even though you see results while you use them, if you stop it will be 10x worse. I used to have such severe acne my face when I would wash it would have blood on the rag from sores. It got that bad from using those types of products. After about a year with a dermatologist my acne was CLEAR, YAY! besides mild breakouts once a month they follow my cycle but they are manageable. I don’t go to a dermatologist and all I do now is wash my face with Dial and use a good moisturizer. A lot of people think oily skin needs to be dried out, but all that oil production locks out moisture and that causes even more oily skin. I use Loreal Futur-e because it has SPF 15 and doesn’t irritate my skin at all.
Acne Marks or Scars
Acne is caused due to the wrong food habits and improper skin care. It is also caused due to hormonal changes. Another important cause is the high level of insulin produced by processed carbohydrates. This excess level of insulin creates blockage in pores and extra oil under the skin. Acne is an extreme condition of sebaceous glands. When hair follicles are plugged with dead cells and sebum, acne is formed. There are many ways to eliminate acne scars at home.
Blackheads are the starting stage of acne. Blackheads are caused by the accumulation of dead cells in the pore. At starting stage, they appear black. Then slowly, the color changes to red. Best ways to get rid of blackhead scars and acne are listed here. These are the best home remedies.
* Apply orange peel paste on and around the pimples.
* Apply garlic on and around the pimples to remove it without a mark.
* Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin B and Vitamin E are the best nutrients to cure the acne. So take a balanced diet full of nutrients and vitamins.
* Mix lime juice and rose water in equal proportion. Apply it on affected areas and allow it to dry for 10 minutes.
Even after the treatment, acne leaves scars. Excellent home remedies to remove acne scars are listed here. Follow these tips to get rid of the acne scars.
* Rub ice cubes on face for 10 minutes to tighten the pores.
* Cucumber juice can also be used to tighten the pores. Apply it and allow it to dry for 10 minutes.
Here is a simple tip that you can use to reduce your acne scars and pigmentation.
The Oil Cleansing Method
What you will need:
Warm Water
Cold Water
Ok, if you don’t want to go to a dermatologist and ask this is what has worked for me:
Have these products on hand:
An acne wash with salicylic acid (foam, gel, or creamy depending on skin type) in it.
An acne wash with benzoyl peroxide in it.
An acne lotion with salicylic acid in it (I recommend clean and clear blackhead clearing lotion).
An acne cream with benzoyl peroxide in it.
A gentle face scrub.
A spot treatment (such as the one from elf.com it’s onl $1!!).
A clay mask.
A good lotion or cream (I suggest the store brand of Cetaphil. It’s way cheaper and basically the exact same.)
Wow. Sounds like a lot of products, but it will last you a long time, and once you start using the system regularly it will work.
One day, wash with the salicylic acid product. Then use the benzoyl peroxide cream to treat acne. Let it sink in, then moisturize your skin well with the lotion or cream (it MUST be non-comedogenic!!!).
The next day wash with the benzoyl peroxide product and treat with the salicylic acid product. Then moisturize. see where I’m going? Keep switching every day. (wash twice a day, by the way.)
2-3 times a week use the facial scrub gently for about a minute or two (follow directions). Once a week use the facial mask. On bigger pimples use the spot treatment over night to help reduce the size.
Also, drink plenty of water (helps flush out toxins from body), do some exercise (like cardio. Then wash skin after!) and de-stress for 15 minutes every day. You may also want to use an acne treating body wash.
Good luck!
Mild to moderately severe acne may be treated with over-the-counter gels, lotions, and creams such as benzoyl peroxide which is applied directly to the skin. Oral antibiotics may also be prescribed to reduce inflammation while oral contraceptives have also shown to improve acne.
In episodes where acne is extremely severe, another oral medication known as Isotretinoin (Accutane) is one of the most effective treatments with successful results. However, all these medications can cause negative side effects and it is important that you inform your health practitioner or dermatologist immediately.
It is also important to develop a good skincare routine that involves cleansing your skin in the mornings, evenings and after workouts. By adjusting your lifestyle and incorporating a healthy diet, exercise, drinking lots of water and getting adequate sleep will also help to make a significant difference to your skin’s appearance.
Herbs have proven to be a more natural, gentle alternative for the treatment of acne rather than the harsh, synthetic chemicals used in over-the-counter products and conventional medications. Not only are herbal remedies safe and effective to use, they also support the skin, immune and digestive systems.
Herbal ingredients such as Tea Tree Oil & Neem contain antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic properties and are not only effective for acne but for other skin conditions too. Other herbs such as Rooibos and Bulbine frutescence (a South African herb) have wonderful antioxidant and healing properties and also help to prevent skin infection and provide ongoing relief. In addition, Lavender essential oil acts as a circulatory stimulant and antiseptic, and is used to treat burns and wounds and to prevent scarring.
They also help the body to expel all foreign or toxic matter such as pus of acne. They treat acne on the face, neck, shoulders, back, and other affected areas, fight off bacteria that causes pimples and blackheads, improve the appearance of bumps and flaky, irritated skin, speed up new skin rejuvenation and removal of dead skin cells, & encourages routine regulation of skin oils for acne prevention.
