What is a good perscription for preventing/treating hormonal acne?
I οnlу gеt breakouts rіght before аnd during mу period. Iѕ anyone out thеrе οn a pill thаt helps wіth thеѕе deep pimples thаt come around thе mouth, chin, cheeks rіght before уουr period? I want something thаt I know works, without testing different prescriptions frοm mу doctor.
I already аm οn birth control.
Isn’t it great to be a woman? I had the same problem and it was very bad. I am on Diane 35 birth control pills and it has worked quite well. I still get the occassional one or two but nothing like it was. This birth control is usually only for very bad cases of acne and it really isn’t recommended to be on for really long periods of time.
The only other things have been mentioned- drink lots and lots of water and stay away from sweets and salt etc. I know that’s pretty much impossible at that time of the month but I hear it helps!
Some birth control pills can help acne. If yours isn’t, then see a dermatologist. There is no one drug for everyone. And if you are on the pill for birth control you do NOT want to go on antibiotics for acne–it will make the pill NOT work.
I’m in the same boat. The only thought I have is to drink PLENTY of water to dilute the horomones before and during that time. I have yet to try it.. but I have been experimenting with herbal tinctures and remedies.. I hate the harsh chemicals in OTC acne fighters..
right now, my concoction is: 2 oz witch hazel, 15 drops tea tree oil, 15 or so drops of eucaliptis (sp) oil all in the same bottle used as a toner. smelly, but it seems to help out!
