I am not an expert but had really bad acne most of my (long) life. You need to keep dirt from blocking your pores. Here is some advice I gave someone else on this message board. It really, really worked for me and it’s simple.
Just wash with regular soap & water twice a day and immediately after, cleanse with some toner (I think they call it). I happen to use Clinique Clarifying Lotion Number 3 (I think there are different numbers for different types of skin). But I’m sure anything similar would work. I’m a guy (don’t mock) and had terrible acne most of my life. Then my wife advised me to follow the instructions above. This finally made my acne go away, well into my adult life. In my younger years, I tried over-the-counter treatments, Proactiv, prescriptions from the doctor. Nothing worked. Other advice that does work for me: wash pillow cases at least once a week. Wash your hands frequently and keep them away from your face. Don’t ever pick at anything unless you know you can get the white stuff out without too much effort. Don’t take any advice from anyone that has something to sell you. Doctors are great, they just didn’t solve the problem for me.
And by they way, nothing will be fast. Be patient. Try this for about three weeks and I bet you’ll see improvement.
