tea tree oil, retin A, cosmedicine medi matte, dr. Brants, pore minimizer, Noxema (if used continuously), lemon juice, toothpaste, and the Zeno (really works) all help with Acne but products have different effects on different people.
It depends on her skin type, really. I found that bar soap and water works pretty good. Also, rubbing alcohol used with cotton balls usually does the trick.
Have her check out http://www.hufa.org – the yeast link. The books I have been reading about my yeast condition indicate acne is one manifestation of yeast. If so, a very low sugar and no yeast (no fermented foods of all types and no mushrooms) diet, coupled with anti-fungal washes/creams may help.

I use a home remedy of rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. Also applying toothpaste directly to an infected area and left over night can decrease the size of the pimple. There is a Burt’s bees blemish control stick that works really well.
