Will proactiv make my face dry out more?
rіght now I υѕе random face washes frοm walgreens аnd Retin-A night time cream. I hаνе a lіttlе bit οf acne οn аnd οff bυt thе main thing thаt happens іѕ mу face dries out lіkе crazy! I need tο υѕе thіѕ heavy lotion(ponds) tο mаkе іt a lіttlе bit less dry. Thеn mу face brеаkѕ out even more frοm pores being clogged. I dο nοt want аnу οthеr lotion recommendations, I јυѕt want tο know іf Proactiv dries out уουr face. Mу friend uses іt аnd hіѕ face looks grеаt аnd hе ѕауѕ thе moisturizer іѕ grеаt. I need a second opinion.

Proactiv sometimes dries out my skin…usually this time of year when there’s less moisture in the air anyway. They suggest using the complete system (5-steps in my case) twice a day. When my skin starts to get dry, I reduce the use to once a day. I use Dove soap (recommended by my dermatologist) at night to wash off my make-up…then follow that with the Proactiv Repairing Lotion. In the morning I will wash my face with the Proactiv Cleanser, followed by the astringent, then the repairing lotion and a tiny bit of the oil-free moisture (which as SPF). Like another poster said, they now have a green-tea moisturerizer…but I haven’t tried that yet. I’ve used Proactiv for the last 5 years and have had good luck with it. Still the occasional breakout, but nothing compared to what it was before.
Good luck!
I have skin that sounds similar to yours and the more you treat it the worse it gets. After years of trying stuff even Proactive I stopped using everything. Come to find out I have sensitive skin so things like putting my hand on my chin in class, holding the phone against my face for awhile will break it out. I stopped using cleansers only water and only use a very light oil free moisturizer if any at all- that’s it. Same goes for everything that goes on my face like sunscreen and such all oil free baby stuff. Also I found that taking fish oil supplements really cleared it up and I have not had any breakouts in 2 years (good considering I’m 30 LOL) You might want to try this idea, it wont cost any extra money.
Yes it does dry out your skin =/ But not soo much that you will see skin flaking off. Proactiv is ment for oily skin but I know people who use it and have normal skin. I mean you should try it! You have nothing to lose? If you keep your old regime then youll break out. I mean if it is to drying then stop or use another lotion after that. I know you said not to reccomend anything but I use to use the ponds dry skin cream and it broke me out like crazy! The first couple of days were good and then bamm =( Which maybe could be your problem. Proactive also has a green tea moisturizer so if the one they have doesnt work you can switch to that. Good Luck =)
for me it dried out my skin especially around the jaw and eyebrow area. but it works differently for everyone so you never know.if you do use it and you start drying out just buy an extra lotion that says non-comongenic and oil free.
I have used proactive and yes it does dry out your skin more, at least it did for me. But remember everybody’s face is different. Good Luck
it can dry out your skin but i think it’s the toner that dries it out and only if you use a lot on your face. i would recommend only using the toner once or twice a day and only on swipe across your face. i’ve stopped using it only becuase it doesnt seen to be working on me anymore.
yes it dried my face out and induced redness try St ives apricot scrub for me it gave me the perfect balnce it moisturizes while deep cleaning
